A few years ago it would have been very easy to feel isolated when living abroad, not able to easily find people who share the same cultures and ideals as yourself. Of course, with the internet, and portals such as "Facebook" this is now a thing of the past. Rather than extol virtues of Facebook or criticise from atop my soapbox, I wanted to bring to your combined attention 2 fantastic leads that I have been shown from Facebook (thank you, Nina!)
First, SA Promo Magazine. What a fantastic idea!!!
An online magazine written by South Africans living abroad, giving their insights and views. And when they say "Abroad" - if you read the articles there are South Africans in some mighty strange and off the wall places - but they are all involved and writing and giving their input...
I would highly commend SA Promo Magazine.
You might also want to visit the parent site, SA Promo. This is a South African directory - but of South African businesses overseas. Naturally, this is only ever as good as the number of contacts listed - so the more the merrier!
Then a little closer to my own home - I was shown (Thank you Nina! Did you notice how Nina did a lot of searching for me this week!!!) I was shown the group for "South African Events in Bristol" FANTASTIC!!!! Naturally, I joined up, being pleasantly surprised to find at least 49 other people enlisted in the group.... We will take over Bristol yet!!!
Finally, a bit more general, but no less interesting "South Africa / South Africans in the UK" This group has 720 members... Which leaves just another 250,680 to join!!!

I just got back from England, pretty, green, very.
Hmm - maybe I should start looking for the Brits in SA group.
Although they're probably all in hiding during the RWC.
Didn't you go to the UK to escape Saffas though? ;@)
