So what could I possibly have been doing in the last 10 months since my last post?
Well, I would bore you with the details, so I will skip them, and rather refer you directly to a new Blog... Yes another...
I now find myself back in London. Living in Wimbledon and having just moved into a house share and finally having a room of my own, I feel I can start sharing my experiences once more.
So follow me, join me, and experience London with me at Living in London... (Name has a ring to it, don't you think?)

Numbing the senses
It would appear to me that in our modern society, we are increasingly becoming “immune” from things, because we tend to “dull them down” by giving them fancy names and marketing type “catch phrases”.
“Knife crime” is one of the latest such politically correct euphemisms… In this instance it describes the increasing trend for young people to be carrying knives – and not the kind you would butter your croissant with either. I would tell you how many young people have died this year alone to “knife crime” just in London, but sadly, by the time I finish the sentence, I fear that the statistic would be out of date – such is the exponential nature of the increase.
And now there is a new catch phrase to help us numb our senses to the world outside…
“Check out rage”…
Oh yes, I give you a new rage – a new member of the family “Rage”. A brother to “Road Rage” – a nasty little devil himself…
Apparently, this new phenomenon has manifested itself in a recent attack on a 57 year old man in South London – resulting in the poor fellow dying the day after. But we could never call it “Cold blooded murder” – we could not possibly handle the trauma of a killing in one of our super markets. Rather, let’s make it seem like an every day occurrence, something not to be concerned with. We will call it “Checkout Rage”.
Unless we stop hiding from the feelings and start doing something about the RAGE, we are going to eventually be VERY numb to the world around us.

Lots happening!!!
Yes, I know... several pages of the calendar have come and gone since my last post, and time has marched on significantly....
With the passing of time - MANY changes....
Most significantly, the Soap Box is no longer based in Bristol, but rather in London... and even that is not permanent - not evening medium term temporary, as in a couple of weeks I wend my way back to South Africa, back to Johanessburg.
And so in a few weeks the Soap Box with fall silent... (Don't scoff! I know it has been silent these months! It was a phrase)
But fear not, for in it's place will come a new blog, detailing life in Jozi, no doubt I will still have much to say about the ways things are, or are not... but with a distinctly African feel and flavour.
I hope you will join me and move with me, as I relocate to Johanessburg, and you move from this Soap Box to my new blog.
I will let you know the new address soon
